Project Brief
Transforming a Grade II listed police station building into a hotel with 31 bedrooms in the market town of Northallerton. This refurbishment project demanded integration into the client’s business and the highest levels of collaboration with the wider design team. Consult North were appointed as Project Managers, Cost Consultants and Employer’s Agents to lead the refurbishment of the former Northallerton police station into the Northallerton Inn.What We Did
The existing Grade II listed building was intact with a check-in desk and holding cells when acquired by our client. Using strategic design, planning and execution we were able to lead the transformation of this building giving it a new lease of life as a 31-bedroom modern hotel. The refurbishment included significant structural alterations and the demolition of the holding cells originally constructed from numerous layers of reinforced concrete. Contending with the reinforced ground floor slabs to install the required drainage was also a pleasant challenge. The Northallerton Inn becomes a great asset to add to our client's portfolio and strengthens our offering when it comes to challenging remodelling and repurposing projects.
